Party Table and Bar

Jun 13

When designing the under-the-stairs bar nook – we originally wanted to have an island stick out parallel to it that 3 stools would fit at. The current steel post ended up being too close to the bar area that when it was said and done you wouldn’t have had much room to pull out your stool. In the end I was super glad we left it open in front of the bar area as I think that will be my favorite feature! Can’t wait to see the finished product but see a few sneak peeks below…

the first picture is what was the end result of the no island stick out – it’s a portable table that we will be able to use at parties or as a behind the couch table for 3 stools to still be at so more people can watch the game 😉  The top still needs to be added to it, but this will give us flexibility to use this table wherever. The last pictures are of the bar area where the white cabinets we got from Menards went in and we added some great antique brushed gold handles I found online. Then we had our contractor build a stained cubby to give some different dimension to the overall piece and I’m excited to find the perfect wire baskets to fit in there. The mini fridge is what is going next to it. I kept getting hung up on the look of a mini fridge and it killing my style! 🙂 So I thought about hiding it with another cabinet door so it all feels as one polished look. Unfortunately we couldn’t get a cabinet in the correct size so our contractor had to build one 🙂 I had an idea to get a piece of frosted glass to place inside the door frame so it would hide the look of the fridge even more so. If we would have painted the custom door panel it would have been a different look than the cabinets we already had. This way with the frosted glass it won’t look odd ball out – but instead be another piece of the whole look. Excited to see this finish up! You can see the pencil marks on the wall above it for where the open shelves will be going, as well as me holding up the white subway tile that will cover that wall too. Stay tuned! We’re in the home stretch!
