Murphy Bed Progress

Jun 6

The first phase of the murphy bed was actually one of the first projects that happened with the basement when our contractor began, but I don’t even have pictures of it – needless to say the hardware came in a small box and I was shocked that that was what he was going to use to construct the bed! Sure enough he made a custom queen size bed frame and painted all the boards white – He also made a nook/shelf I wanted to be in there which would have a light switch for the eyeball light overtop (the electrician will put that in next) and 2 outlets to charge your phones if needed. He then framed out where the bed will go allowing for one side of the bed to have a lot more room for getting in and out of the bed. There’s still some finishing work to be done and the ends need to be painted but what a fun addition to our home! We can always have a place for guests to stay and when they pull the bed down there is a fun contrast of the shiplap boards painted grey to mimic a headboard look. Now to find the right hardware to use as our handle to pull it down…something fun to disguise it!

Remember when I said in the last post we are making the most of the space we have….I wasn’t kidding! Every inch of it! Ha ha! A window seat bench sits upstairs and now a murphy bed in the bump out of the foundation below 🙂
